Murder Investigation Stalls 54 Days After Farmer Shot Dead in Siraha

Siraha. Police have yet to identify the culprits in a murder that occurred on Magh 16 in the Kinar of Mainabatti Khola in Siraha Municipality-7. Premnath Yadav, 45, a resident of Siraha Municipality-1, was shot dead by an unidentified group while he was plowing his field.

The deceased Yadav has two minor sons. Following the murder of the family's main provider, the family is now in distress. Ramjanam Yadav, the elder son studying in Grade 10, stated that his and his brother's future is uncertain. "Our support was our father; now our future is uncertain," he said.

With 54 days having passed since the incident without the main culprit being identified, despair and anger are growing among the victim's family. The deceased's brother, Abhaynath Yadav, expressed dissatisfaction with the police investigation, saying, "The police only say that the investigation is ongoing, but they have not been able to provide any information on whether the culprits have been found or not."

Initially, the police took eyewitnesses Ramvilas Yadav and Ramprasad Mahara into custody for questioning, but they were released after 23 days. The victim's side has demanded swift action against those involved in the murder to ensure justice.

District Police Office Superintendent of Police Basudev Pathak stated that the investigation is underway. According to him, 14 suspects have been brought under the scope of the investigation and questioned so far.

The police have stated that considering the seriousness of the case, the investigation is being advanced in coordination with the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). Police Superintendent Pathak said, "Some important information has been obtained during the investigation. Suspicious individuals are under police surveillance. We are confident that the culprits will be arrested soon."
