Butwal-Narayangadh Road Section Remains Partially Blocked Due to Muddy Conditions

Nawalparasi. The Butwal-Narayangadh road section, which has been obstructed since Friday, has not fully resumed operation. Traffic service has been affected in the Daunne section of Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-2 in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) along the East-West Highway due to slippery and muddy road conditions.

Although the winter rain has stopped, the mud accumulated on the road and the continuous flow of debris from the Daunne hill are causing difficulties for vehicle operation, said Police Superintendent Yuvraj Khadka of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East). Police Superintendent Khadka informed that vehicles are getting stuck midway as they are unable to ascend the slope due to the muddy and slippery road in the Ghiukhola and Bishwakarma Temple surrounding areas of Daunne.

"Even though the rain has stopped, the road condition has not improved; vehicle operation is facing problems due to mud and debris," he said. "Vehicles traveling from East to West are not operating as they are slipping on the incline, while vehicles traveling from West to East are operating to some extent."

Passengers and drivers have been stranded on the road for three days due to the blockage. Long-distance passenger and cargo vehicles being stopped on the road have caused delays in reaching destinations. The Narayangadh-Butwal Road Project stated that the problem of road obstruction, even with normal rainfall, has been recurring because road expansion work is ongoing in the Daunne section. The project has informed that efforts are being made for maintenance and improvement to clear the blocked road.

Meanwhile, the Narayanghat-Butwal Road Project Office has restricted the operation of large cargo vehicles every day from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM until Chaitra 8. Currently, even small and emergency service vehicles are being affected.
