Power Outage Hits Upper Mustang Due to Heavy Snowfall and Rain

Mustang. Electricity service has been disrupted in Upper Mustang since this afternoon. Continuous snowfall and rain starting at 4:00 PM have caused power outages in the Lomanthang and Lhogekar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality areas of Upper Mustang.

The local electricity distribution body, Nilgiri Consumer Cooperative Society, stated that the power service is disrupted in two rural municipalities from Waragung Muktikshetra-3 Syangboche upwards due to the snowfall and rain.

Sanprasad Thkali, the office chief at the cooperative, informed that technical problems have arisen in the 11 KV electricity transmission line from Thasang Rural Municipality up to the Nepal-China Kora Pass due to the snowfall and rain.

Office Chief Thkali stated that the problem in the electricity transmission line will be repaired and service restored as soon as the weather improves. He added that a technical team will be dispatched as soon as the weather clears for the necessary maintenance. Office Chief Thkali mentioned that the extent of the damage to the electricity transmission line caused by the snowfall and rain has not yet been determined.
