Woman and Two Children Missing in Surkhet, Suspected Drowning in Bheri River

Surkhet. A woman has gone missing in Surkhet along with her two children. The missing individuals are identified as 38-year-old Maya Kathayat, her 11-year-old daughter Asha Kathayat, and 5-year-old son Deepak Kathayat, all residents of Gurbhakot Municipality-12, Piple.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohanjung Budhathapa of the District Police Office, Surkhet, Maya went out of contact with her children on Sunday morning around 7:00 AM. Maya's husband, Bhupendra Kathayat, reported the incident to the Gumi police post in the evening.

Following the report, a four-member police team led by Police Senior Head Constable Gopal Gurung, along with locals, were deployed for the search operation. 'A bag, shawl, slippers, and mobile phone used by Maya were found on the bank of the Bheri River, about 3 kilometers from the house,' said Deputy Superintendent of Police Budhathapa, 'However, their condition remains unknown.'

Police suspect they may have drowned in the Bheri River. According to him, a search operation is currently underway involving 35 police personnel and local individuals around the Bheri River area.
