Gundaki Province Men's One-Day Cricket Selection Tournament Kicks Off in Pokhara for PM Cup

Kaski. The provincial-level men's one-day cricket selection tournament for the 'Prime Minister Cup' National Cricket Competition is set to begin in Pokhara starting Thursday.

Organized by the Gandaki Provincial Cricket Association, the tournament will run until Chaitra 3 at the Pokhara Stadium Cricket Ground and the Eden Heaven Cricket Ground in Lekhnath.

The opening match of the tournament will take place at the Pokhara Stadium Cricket Ground, featuring a clash between Baglung and Kaski. According to Sanjaykant Sigdel, President of the Gandaki Provincial Cricket Association, six districts from the Gandaki Province—Kaski, Syangja, Baglung, Tanahun, Nawalpur, and Parbat—will compete in the tournament.

Based on the performance of the players in the tournament, the top 24 players will be selected to participate in a closed training camp. The training will be conducted from Chaitra 4 to 7 at the Pokhara Stadium Cricket Ground. The Gandaki Province team for the PM Cup National Cricket Competition will be selected based on player fitness tests and practice matches.

To evaluate the selected players' capabilities and prepare them mentally for the national-level competition, the organizers have stated that two practice matches will be played between two teams formed from two famous religious sites in Gandaki Province: 'Muktinath' and 'Triveni'.

Association President Sigdel stated that the selection tournament will be crucial for the development of cricket and the identification of talented players in the province. "We believe this selection process will be a significant milestone for the development of cricket and grassroots cricket in Gandaki Province," Sigdel said.
