Proportional Representation Vote Counting Nears Final Stage in Nepal, Final Results Imminent

Kathmandu. The vote counting for the House of Representatives election under the Proportional Representation (PR) system has reached its final phase. The Election Commission has stated that the final results will be announced immediately after the counting concludes for Ilam-1 and Gorkha-1, which are currently underway. 

‘The PR counting is in its final stage. Since the counting for Ilam-1 and Gorkha-1 is currently happening, the final results will be announced once that is finished,’ said Commission Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, adding, ‘Please wait a little longer.’

The Commission has so far counted 10,739,115 votes under the PR system. Among these, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is leading with 5,139,235 votes, while Nepali Congress is in second place with 1,749,583 votes. 

Similarly, CPN-UML has received 1,448,854 votes, the Communist Party of Nepal has received 805,773 votes, while Shram Sanskriti Party has received 378,649, Rastriya Prajatantra Party has received 329,472, Janata Samajbadi Party has received 174,317, Rastriya Parivartan Party has received 171,501, and Janmat Party has received 78,973 votes. 

The counting for the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) system has already concluded.
