Nepali Congress Secures 18 Seats in Direct Elections, Finishes Second Overall

Kathmandu. According to the final vote count for the House of Representatives direct elections, the Nepali Congress has secured victories in 18 out of the 165 constituencies across the country. The final results published by the Election Commission show that Congress won 18 seats this time.

Among the Congress candidates, Md. Firdos Alam was victorious in Rautahat Constituency No. 2. He registered his win by securing 29,528 votes.

Similarly, Bishnu Bahadur Khadka won in Surkhet Constituency No. 1 with 26,897 votes, Abhishek Pratap Shah in Kapilvastu Constituency No. 3 with 23,535 votes, and Khadga Bahadur Buda in Jajarkot Constituency No. 1 with 20,142 votes. Sandeep Rana won in Palpa Constituency No. 1 with 18,336 votes, Narendra Kumar Kerung in Panchthar Constituency No. 1 with 17,233 votes, and Janak Raj Giri was elected in Bajura Constituency No. 1 after securing 17,173 votes.

Furthermore, Bharat Bahadur Khadka secured 14,897 votes in Doti Constituency No. 1, and Nishkal Rai obtained 14,543 votes in Ilam Constituency No. 1. Prakash Singh Karki, the candidate for Solukhumbu Constituency No. 1, won with 13,166 votes, while Basana Thapa secured 12,372 votes in Dailekh Constituency No. 1, and Santosh Subba ensured victory in Tehrathum Constituency No. 1 with 11,561 votes. In Achham Constituency No. 1, Bharat Kumar Swar won with 10,759 votes, and Mohan Acharya won in Rasuwa Constituency No. 1 with 10,656 votes.

The Congress also succeeded in maintaining its legacy in the Himalayan districts. Jayapati Rokaya secured 8,717 votes in Humla Constituency No. 1, and Khadga Shahi obtained 7,914 votes in Mugu Constituency No. 1. Congress maintained dominance in Mustang and Manang, which have fewer voters, where Yogesh Gauchan Thakali was elected from Mustang Constituency No. 1 with 3,307 votes, and Tek Bahadur Gurung was elected from Manang Constituency No. 1 with 2,415 votes. Overall, Congress, having won 18 seats in the direct elections, stands in second place.
