Kathmandu Metropolitan City Begins Box Culvert Construction Over Tukucha River on Key Road Section

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has commenced the construction of a box culvert over the Tukucha River on the road section running from Putalisadak via Bagbazar towards Ratnapark. An agreement has been signed with Arkai Star Construction Service Private Limited to complete the culvert construction by the end of Chaitra next year.

This culvert will be 5 meters long towards the road and 14 meters long towards the water flow direction. Following the start of construction, vehicular movement on this road section has been completely halted.

Alternative routes have been arranged for vehicles traveling from Dillibazar Putalisadak Chowk towards Bagbazar, and for those reaching Putalisadak via Ramshah Path and turning left towards Bagbazar. This project, being built at a cost of 5,772,694 rupees, is expected to resolve the flooding issues experienced in the area during the monsoon season.

Currently, preparations are underway to temporarily install hume pipes for water drainage. As pedestrians faced risks while crossing the road during the culvert construction, the metropolis has now prohibited pedestrians from walking in that area. The metropolis stated that work is being expedited to ensure completion within the stipulated time frame.
