Dhruvraj Rai Elected to House of Representatives from Bhojpur on Labor Culture Party Ticket

Bhojpur. Dhruvraj Rai, born into a humble family in Nagi, Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality-4, western Bhojpur, in 2039 BS, has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Bhojpur, the sole constituency, representing the Labor Culture Party. Rai, who became a leader from his student days within the CPN (UML), served twice as the Student Union Chairman of Bhojpur Multiple Campus before being elected as the Chairman of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality. The 43-year-old Rai was also at the forefront during the 2062/63 People's Movement.

In the 2074 local elections, Rai defeated the alliance of the Nepali Congress, Maoist, and Federal Socialist Forum to win the post of Rural Municipality Chairman. At that time, he brought electricity access to the dark Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality, illuminating the entire village. However, in the 2079 local elections, Rai was defeated by Saroj Basnet of the Nepali Congress.

Rai had joined the Labor Culture Party, led by Harkaraj Rai, just a few months ago after leaving the UML. Prior to that, Rai was a member of the CPN (UML)'s Koshi Province Committee. Rai, who left the UML, secured victory by defeating Sherdhan Rai, the Central Secretary of the same party, by a margin of 1,913 votes. He received 16,663 votes, while the UML candidate Rai received 14,750 votes.
