Nepali Congress Yet to Open Account in Lumbini Province Vote Count; RSP Leads Sweep

Butwal. According to the latest results of the ongoing House of Representatives vote count, the Nepali Congress has yet to open its account in Lumbini Province.

Out of the 26 constituencies in the province, as of 8:30 AM on Saturday, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has secured victory in 3 seats. Similarly, the CPN (UML) and the CPN (Maoist Centre) have won one seat each.

The Nepali Congress, which won 6 direct seats from Lumbini Province in the 2079 elections, has not managed to win any constituency so far this time. Congress is currently leading only in Kapilvastu-3.

A wave favoring the RSP is visible in Lumbini Province, similar to what has been observed across the country. So far, the RSP has won 3 seats and maintains a significant lead in 17 constituencies.

Kanhaiya Baniya of RSP has been victorious in Rupandehi-4. Likewise, Suresh Kumar Chaudhary of RSP won in Banke-1, and Khagendra Sunar won in Banke-3.

Meanwhile, the CPN (Maoist Centre) has opened its account from Rukum East. Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' was victorious in that constituency. The party is also leading in Rolpa, where Barshaman Pun is ahead of candidates from other parties. CPN (Maoist Centre) candidates are trailing in other districts.

The CPN (UML), which won 14 direct seats from Lumbini Province in the 2079 elections, has secured victory only in Banke-2 so far. Mohammad Ishtiaq Rai of UML was victorious in that constituency. UML candidates are currently leading in two additional constituencies.

• Where is the Lead?

As of now, the final results for 5 constituencies in Lumbini Province have been announced, while vote counting is ongoing in the remaining 21 constituencies. Among these, RSP candidates are leading in the highest number of seats.

RSP candidates Sunil Lamsal in Rupandehi-1, Sulabh Kharel in Rupandehi-2, Dr. Lekhjang Karki in Rupandehi-3, and Tofik Khan in Rupandehi-5 are in the lead.

Similarly, Devraj Pathak is leading in Dang-1, Bipin Kumar Acharya in Dang-2, and Kamal Subedi in Dang-3. Sagar Dhakal leads in Gulmi-1, Bikram Khanal in Nawalparasi-1, and Narendra Gupta in Nawalparasi-2.

Furthermore, Mohanlal Acharya in Kapilvastu-1, Bikram Thapa in Kapilvastu-2, Thakur Singh Tharu in Bardiya-1, Sushant Baidik in Pyuthan-1, Hariprasad Bhusal in Arghakhanchi-1, and Madhav Bahadur Thapa in Palpa-2 are leading for the RSP.

Following the RSP, the CPN (UML) shows leads in Lumbini Province. Gokul Bista, the candidate from Gulmi-2, and Narayan Acharya, the candidate from Palpa-1, are leading for the CPN (UML). Abhishek Pratap Shah of the Nepali Congress is leading in Kapilvastu-3.
