Vote Counting Delayed in Sankhuwasabha Due to Remote Polling Station Ballot Box Retrieval Issues

Biratnagar. The vote counting for the House of Representatives election held in Sankhuwasabha on Thursday has been affected due to difficulties in bringing the ballot box from Dudhpokhari Basic School in Thudam, Bhotkhola.

Preparations are underway to bring the ballot box from the said center today. However, adverse weather conditions are reported to still prevail in Sankhuwasabha. The ballot boxes from four polling stations within the remote northern areas of Bhotkhola Rural Municipality and Silingcho Rural Municipality in the district were brought by helicopter yesterday.

The ballot boxes from Himlaya Basic School Kimathanka and Jyoti Basic School Ridakar in the geographically remote and difficult Bhotkhola Rural Municipality, and from Khempalung Basic School in Silingcho Rural Municipality-5 and Shiva Shakti Secondary School Kampek polling station in Ward No. 3, were also brought by helicopter yesterday.

Only 13 votes were cast at the Thumam polling station. The Chief District Officer (CDO) Sirjana Thapaliya stated that ballot boxes from 164 polling stations in the district have been collected so far. She added that vote counting will commence after holding an all-party meeting once the ballot boxes from all local levels have arrived.
