CPN-UML Secretary Rajan Bhattarai Announces He Will Not Contest Elections in Kathmandu-4 Again

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Secretary and candidate for Kathmandu Constituency No. 4, Dr. Rajan Bhattarai, has announced that he will not contest elections from this constituency in the future.

Bhattarai made this decision public through social media after coming close to defeat in this constituency three times.

Bhattarai is set to complete a 'hat-trick' of defeats in Kathmandu-4. He was defeated in the 2074 and 2079 elections from the same constituency. Bhattarai, who was defeated by Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa in both 2074 and 2079, failed to secure the mandate in his favor this time as well.

Bhattarai accepted the election results as a democratic practice and congratulated the winning candidate. He wrote, "Accepting the results of this election with full respect, embracing the belief that the public mandate is the final and supreme authority in the democratic journey."

He further stated, "I would also like to inform you all at this time that it is my personal decision not to contest any future elections from this constituency."
