Nepali Congress Ministers in Lumbini Province to Delay Resignation

Although the Nepali Congress central working committee has decided to end the power-sharing with the CPN (UML), it has been indicated that the possibility of withdrawing from the government in Lumbini immediately is low.< /p>

Dhanendra Karki, the Minister of Economic Affairs of Lumbini Province, told Ratopati that there is no possibility of resigning immediately. According to him, further decisions will be made only after observing the political situation in other provinces and clear directives from the center.< /p>

'There is less possibility of us submitting our resignation immediately. We also have to look at the situation in other provinces. There is no clear line yet on how to proceed from the center, so we have to wait for some time,' he said.< /p>

Earlier on Wednesday, a meeting called by Dil Bahadur Chaudhary, leader of the Nepali Congress Lumbini Province Parliamentary Party in Dang, also concluded that instead of making an immediate decision on withdrawing support to the UML-led government or recalling its ministers from the government, they would wait for some time.< /p>

Sources have stated that an informal meeting including the party leader, chief whip, and whip agreed that the ministers would not resign immediately.< /p>

Currently, five ministers from the Nepali Congress are participating in the UML-led government in Lumbini Province. Nepali Congress leaders have said that a final decision on whether to remain in the government or withdraw support will be made only after further political directives are received from the center.< /p>
