Road Link Connects Baglung's Dhorpatan with Rukum's Taksera, Shortening Travel Times

Baglung. Dhorpatan in Baglung and Taksera village in Eastern Rukum have now been connected via a direct road network. The road connects Taksera village in Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality, Rukum East, via Niseldhor in Nisikhola Rural Municipality-5, Baglung, to the direct road network.

Khim Bahadur Gharti Magar, Ward Chairperson of Dhorpatan Municipality-9, informed that the road connected at a place called Manimferes near Niseldhor, as construction had been ongoing from both districts. He stated that the work, which had been halted for a long time, was completed after the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve Office granted permission.

With the road connecting the two districts, travel between Western Baglung and Eastern Rukum has now been shortened. Previously, Niseldhor was connected to Burtibang market. Although Niseldhor was connected by road a decade ago, the construction could not proceed further up. Ward Chairperson Gharti Magar stated that the distance from Burtibang to Dhorpatan is 31 kilometers and from Dhorpatan to Taksera is 37 kilometers.

He said, "Now, one can reach Taksera by covering a distance of 68 kilometers from Burtibang. Until now, locals of Taksera had to travel long distances via Rukum's Kankri using the Mid-Hill Highway. The distance has been shortened after the road connected via Dhorpatan."

Dhan Bahadur Kayat, Acting Chief of Dhorpatan Municipality, stated that they succeeded in connecting the Dhorpatan-Taksera road after a long effort. He mentioned that construction had been stopped for many years due to the Hunting Reserve not giving permission, but the construction has finally been completed.

An allocation of NPR 1,250,000 was made in the current fiscal year to open the road 'track' from the Niseldhor side. He stated that the road construction was completed with that budget. Now, it will be shorter for the residents of Taksera to reach Baglung, Pokhara, and Kathmandu, and it will be easier to market local produce.
