Nepali Migrant Workers Stranded at Airport Amid Israel-Iran Tensions

Kathmandu. Nepali migrant workers have been left stranded at the airport since yesterday due to the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran that began yesterday. Passengers have been stranded at the airport since all flights to the Middle East were suspended yesterday afternoon.  

“I arrived in Kathmandu yesterday morning from Siraha district. My flight was scheduled for 9 PM, but I only found out that the plane would not be flying after arriving at the airport. The airline told me to come only after the situation in the destination country normalizes. I only brought enough money for one day's stay in Kathmandu; I don't know what to do now. I am stranded,” said Parameshwar Shah, who was scheduled to fly to Qatar, to Ratopati.  

Flight schedules for aircraft heading to the Middle East are still showing cancellations this Sunday morning. International flights that used to operate from Tribhuvan International Airport via seven different international airports are currently canceled.  

All flights to the Middle East from the airport are suspended due to flight restrictions imposed on Sharjah, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait City, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Dammam airports.
