Election Commission Plans to Expedite Vote Counting Process

Kathmandu. The Election Commission plans to reduce the time for collecting ballot boxes this time and start counting votes from the evening of the voting day itself, i.e., Falgun 21. Commission Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai stated that the commission has adopted this strategy to shorten the waiting time for voters.

He mentioned that the Election Commission has intensified preparations to announce the results as quickly as possible immediately after the voting is completed. According to Spokesperson Bhattarai, keeping past experiences in mind, the time for collecting ballot boxes will be significantly reduced this time. According to the commission's plan, priority will be given to starting the vote counting from the evening of the day voting concludes.

He stated that for this purpose, arrangements for the counting centers and necessary management will be finalized before the voting in coordination with political parties. Spokesperson Bhattarai clarified that the commission has this 'good intention' to address the eagerness of voters to hear the results.

The commission aims to work optimally, keeping in mind the technical difficulties that may arise at the local level. He also informed that counting centers for most constituencies have already been designated in coordination with the District Security Committee.
