Court Orders Detention for Suspects in Elderly Couple's Murder and Robbery in Okhaldhunga

Okhaldhunga. The court has ordered the detention of the accused involved in the murder and robbery of an elderly couple in Chishankhugadhi, Okhaldhunga, pending further investigation.

Dhan Bahadur Rana Magar, 34, and another 17-year-old minor, involved in the murder of 74-year-old Chandra Bikram Rai and his 80-year-old wife Chandra Maya Rai of Ward No. 6, Chishankhugadhi Rural Municipality, have been sent for custody.

The couple was brutally murdered around 10 PM on the night of Magh 12. The suspects, who fled after robbing the couple, were arrested on Magh 23 from Dallu, Kathmandu, by a joint team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Koshi Province Police, and the District Police Office, Okhaldhunga. The District Police Office, Okhaldhunga, stated that after the investigation was completed, the Okhaldhunga District Court ordered their detention on Falgun 14.

Following the court's order, the main accused, Dhanbahadur Rana Magar, has been sent to the Okhaldhunga Prison Office, while the minor involved in the incident has been sent to the Child Reform Home in Biratnagar for rehabilitation. A case was registered against them under the charges of robbery and homicide, and legal proceedings have been initiated. 

According to Police Inspector Vikram Bahadur Bhattarai, the Information Officer at the District Police Office, the police conducted a meticulous investigation, prioritizing this serious incident.
