Rupandehi-3 Voters Recall Late Deepak Bohara's Development Legacy Amidst Election Buzz

Butwal. The date for the House of Representatives election is drawing near. Candidates are busy with their election campaigns. Similar to other constituencies, Rupandehi Constituency No. 3 is also experiencing increased election fervor.

Voters in this area have largely made up their minds about the kind of representative they will elect in the upcoming polls. They state that their preference is for a candidate who can advance development works, address public concerns, and step outside the limited circle of party workers to stand by the common people in their joys and sorrows.

Although various political stalwarts have been elected from this constituency in the past, local voters mention that the late leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Deepak Bohara, achieved more in terms of development work than others.

Ratopati approached local voters in various wards under Rupandehi-3 and asked who among the past representatives had done good work for this area. Most of the voters we questioned asserted that Deepak Bohara had significantly advanced development works in this constituency for decades.

Voters stated that no one else could contribute as much to the basic development of this area as former RPP lawmaker Bohara.

Rukmangad Jaishi Sharma, a resident of Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality-3, stated that Deepak Bohara's contribution to the development of not just Rupandehi-3 but the entire district is unforgettable. "No other leader has done as much for the basic development of Rupandehi as Deepak Bohara," he said.

Prem KC of Siddharthanagar Municipality-8 says Deepak Bohara's contribution to rural development is unforgettable. "Bohara developed the rural areas of Rupandehi since the Panchayat era," he said, "Other leaders were elected from here, but they did not work as much as Bohara did."

Sharma mentions that Bohara worked extensively on providing land to landless squatters to establish settlements, as well as on road construction, irrigation, and other physical infrastructure development. "Leaders at the central level, including Balkrishna Khand, were elected from here, but they only looked after their close associates. We feel that only Bohara worked for the public good," he said.

Tara Rana of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-18 says she is compelled to remember Deepak Bohara on the eve of the election. "He is physically no longer in this world, but we are currently enjoying the fruits of the development he brought," she said.

Rana states that Bohara always played a role in the development of not only his constituency but the entire Rupandehi district, whether he won or lost an election. She recounted that Bohara provided irrigation facilities through boring for the farmers. She mentioned that Bohara, who won the 079 election while in poor health, could not work effectively in his last term due to illness, but he had done significant work for the people of this area prior to that.

"Balkrishna Khand won from this constituency, and Deepak Bohara also won," Rana said, "But Khand did very little. Bohara has done a lot of work."

Khemraj Kharel of Omsatiya Rural Municipality-2 also recalls Deepak Bohara working extensively on road construction and other infrastructure development.

"Elections are happening again, and it feels empty without a person like Deepak Bohara," he said.

RPP has nominated Deepak Bohara's son, Gaurav Bohara, as a candidate in this constituency. However, Kharel is not confident that his son will play as effective a role as his father.

Prem KC of Siddharthanagar Municipality-8 states that Deepak Bohara's contribution to rural development is unforgettable. "Bohara developed the rural areas of Rupandehi since the Panchayat era," he said, "Other leaders were elected from here, but they did not work as much as Bohara did."

Krishnamohan Jaiswal of Siari Rural Municipality remembers Deepak Bohara as a visionary leader. He says that Bohara initiated development plans that would last for the long term.

He, who runs a small business, said, "I am just a small trader. I have nothing to gain or lose from anyone. To tell the truth, Deepak Bohara has done a lot for this district. All the development that has happened here is because of him."

He stated that representatives other than Bohara have not done any significant work for this area.
