Election Commission Directs Parties to Cease Use of Physical Election Symbols During Campaigning

Kathmandu. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will no longer be permitted to solicit votes by ringing its election symbol, the bell, from now on.

On Sunday, the Election Commission urged political parties not to use or cause the use of the physical form of the election symbol while campaigning for the House of Representatives elections. Previously, RSP candidates had been campaigning by ringing the bell.  

Election Commission Says – Do Not Use the Physical Form of the Election Symbol

Commission Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai stated that the request was made to parties and candidates after receiving information and complaints that some political parties or candidates were carrying and using the physical form of the election symbol during campaigning, which was adversely affecting the overall peace of the community.  

The House of Representatives election is scheduled for this coming Falgun 21.
