Nepal-Portugal Bilateral Consultation Mechanism Holds First Meeting in Lisbon

Lisbon. The first meeting of the Nepal-Portugal Bilateral Consultation Mechanism is scheduled to be held in Lisbon on Friday. Both sides will review the overall status of Nepal-Portugal relations, including matters of mutual interest and cooperation in regional and multilateral forums.

Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal is leading the Nepali delegation for the co-chairmanship of the meeting and has arrived here. According to the Nepali Embassy here, during the bilateral consultation, the Foreign Secretary is also scheduled to hold meetings with other senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal and inaugurate the newly established Nepali Embassy.

During his stay, the Foreign Secretary will also hold discussions with representatives of the Nepali community. Currently, more than 40,000 Nepalis reside in Portugal.

The Nepali delegation will include senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Nepali Ambassador to Portugal Prakash Mani Poudel and other embassy officials.

The delegation will return home next Sunday. The Nepal-Portugal Consultation Mechanism was established in 2018.
