Protest Near Kathmandu Airport Causes Major Traffic Disruption

Kathmandu. Traffic flow in the area around the Golden Gate on the road at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu has become chaotic following a demonstration by royalists. Due to the crowding, and keeping security and traffic management in mind, the traffic police have diverted large vehicles from Gaushala and Tinkune Chok.

Similarly, small vehicles have been routed through the inner roads of Sinamangal and Tilganga, while cargo vehicles have been diverted from Chabahil towards Sukedhara and from Koteshwor towards Balkumari.

Long queues of vehicles have formed in the Gaushala, Old Baneshwor, Bhatke Pul, Sinamangal, and Tinkune areas due to the heavy presence of people on the road. Vehicles in these areas are moving at a very slow pace (queuing), causing inconvenience to commuters.

The traffic police have specifically requested drivers traveling via Gaushala, Sinamangal, and Tinkune to use alternative routes to avoid unnecessary jams and reach their destinations on time.

Security presence has been increased in the area, and efforts are underway to normalize the situation. The complete blockage of the main road due to the gathering of individuals in the Golden Gate area has had a direct impact on other surrounding link roads as well.
