Nepali Women's Cricket Team Bid Farewell Ahead of ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup in Thailand

Kathmandu. The Nepali team participating in the ACC Rising Stars Women's Asia Cup, starting this week in Thailand, has been bid farewell. Pooja Mahato will captain the team this time. They were seen off in a special program.

The responsibility of captaincy was given to Pooja, the former vice-captain, as regular captain Indu Barma will be out of action for at least 8 weeks due to a finger injury. Nepal's 15-member squad for the tournament has also been announced under Pooja's captaincy.

This is the first time Pooja will be captaining the senior team. Previously, Pooja captained the Nepali U-19 team in the U-19 Women's T20 World Cup.

Anu Kadayat, Simrana KC, and Ruby Poddar have been included in the Nepali squad. Rachan Chaudhary, Rajmati Airee, and Indu Barma have been dropped from the World Cup qualifier squad. In the Rising Stars Women's Asia Cup, Nepal is placed in Group 'A' along with India 'A', Pakistan 'A', and the UAE.

Group 'B' includes Bangladesh 'A', Sri Lanka 'A', Malaysia, and Thailand. Nepal will play its first match of the tournament, which starts on February 13, against Pakistan 'A', and on the same day, India 'A' and the UAE will also compete.
