KP Sharma Oli Criticizes Leaders Seeking New Constituencies After Losing Trust at Home

Jhapa. CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli commented, targeting Rastriya Swatantra Party's senior leader Balen Shah, stating that leaders who lose trust in their own constituencies often seek new areas to contest from. He mentioned that those who have lost confidence in their own areas are wandering around looking for new places.

He questioned why someone who won in Kathmandu does not dare to contest from there. He stated that the compulsion to move to a new place arises when one is unable to perform. Recalling his connection with Gauriganj in Jhapa since B.S. 2026, he mentioned that he was involved in the organization there until '26, '27, '28, and '29.

He said that after being jailed in '30, he couldn't visit for some time, but his journey with that area has been continuous since the end of '47. He discussed the transformation in the Gauriganj area, stating there is a world of difference between the Gauriganj of the past and the current Gauriganj, which has become a 'Selfie Road'. Discussing development infrastructure, Chairman Oli claimed that the Postal Highway was successful due to his own initiative.

According to him, most work has been completed except for one bridge over the Kankai river, and technical problems seen in the bridges over the Ratuwa and Kamala rivers are in the process of being resolved. Discussing the significant contribution made by the government under his leadership in the area of social security, he claimed to have increased the senior citizen allowance to 4,000 rupees. However, he expressed regret that the allowance could not be increased due to the current economic situation and frequent changes in government.

Chairman Oli cautioned against attempts to disrupt harmony in society. He emphasized the need to strengthen national unity based on social justice and equality by ending discrimination between Madhesis and Pahadis.
