Health Minister Directs to Ease Medicine Supply Amid Shortages

Kathmandu. Health and Food Hygiene Minister Nisha Mehta has directed to facilitate the supply and management of medicines currently facing shortages in the market.

After monitoring the Department of Drug Management, she directed to prevent shortages of medicines including cancer drugs.

She directed to expedite the process by conducting on-site inspections of companies that have submitted applications for medicine supply and distribution permits so far but have not yet received approval.

Furthermore, Minister Mehta expressed commitment to assist in increasing the regulatory capacity of the department. She directed to immediately submit details of necessary resources and manpower for immediate improvements to make the department effective.

Minister Mehta has directed the concerned parties to make necessary arrangements to focus on quality testing of medicines distributed free of charge by the government and medicines provided under health insurance.

Acting Director General of the Department, Shivani Khadgi, provided information about the department's work.
