Man Arrested in Rautahat with Nearly NPR 5 Lakh in Undeclared Cash

Rautahat. A person has been arrested in Rautahat with nearly 5 lakh rupees in cash from an unknown source. A police team deployed from the District Police Office, Rautahat, took one person into custody while checking vehicles.

District Police Spokesperson DSP Bishnu Pradip Basnyal stated that the arrested individual is Rakesh Prasad, 44, of Gaur Municipality-1. According to the police, checking was underway on the road section in Gaur Municipality-3 at around 10:30 AM on Friday. During the inspection, suspicion arose regarding the motorcycle with registration number BR 30 U 7247, which was traveling from the Gaur Customs Office towards BP Chowk, when it was stopped.

Spokesperson Basnyal informed that during the check, Nepali currency amounting to 4 lakh 99 thousand rupees was found hidden inside a plastic bag in the motorcycle's leg guard. The police stated that the driver could not disclose the source of the recovered amount when asked for necessary documentation.

The District Police Office, Rautahat, reported that the seized cash, motorcycle, and the driver have been handed over to the Gaur Customs Office for necessary investigation and action.
