Ward Secretary Dies in Wedding Procession Bus Accident in Baitadi

Dhangadhi. A ward secretary has died in a bus accident carrying a wedding procession traveling from Purchaudi, Baitadi towards Bajhang.

Basanta Raj Joshi, the ward secretary of Shaileshikhar Municipality-1, Darchula, also died in the accident that occurred at Badchaur, Purchaudi Municipality-7.

According to the police, Basanta Raj Joshi, who lost his life in the accident, is a permanent resident of Bithadchir Rural Municipality-7, Bajhang. He was working as a Sub-Technical Assistant (Na.Pra.Sa.) in the Animal Service Branch at the Shaileshikhar Municipality office in Darchula. Joshi was also serving as the ward secretary for Shaileshikhar Municipality-1 Balanch.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Joshi was also the secretary of the Nepal Civil Service Employees' Organization, Shaileshikhar Municipal Executive Committee. The entire village is now in mourning after Ward Secretary Joshi and 13 others tragically lost their lives in the bus accident while heading to share the joy of a wedding.

Police stated that rescue operations for the injured and identification of the deceased are currently underway.
