Opposition MPs Protest PM Balen Shah's Border Remarks

Kathmandu. Opposition party lawmakers have protested Prime Minister Balen Shah's statement regarding the border. In Wednesday's House of Representatives meeting, they demanded a ruling from the Speaker to correct the Prime Minister's statement and remove it from the record, as they had done in the past.

CPN's Gopal Sharma said that when the Prime Minister himself makes irresponsible statements, even ministers start competing in such statements. “There is a competition for making irresponsible statements. The Finance Minister threatens the MPs from the rostrum, and on the other hand, a minister talks about breaking legs,” he said, “Today, impunity is being encouraged.”

He said that the government itself is failing in law enforcement, citing actions like keeping tempos in the jungle or throwing Kafal, and asking whether ministers should enforce the law or not.

Similarly, Labour Culture Party MP Hark Sampang demanded that the government arrange for resettlement by making provisions in the budget, as protests are occurring due to lack of food and water in the holding centers where the landless and unorganized are kept.
