Malika Rural Municipality Upgrades Darbang-Phulbari Road Section

Myagdi. The Darbang-Phulbari section of the road connecting Darbang, the center of Malika Rural Municipality, to Phulbari-Chyuri-Sisneri and Tamankhola of Baglung has been upgraded 18 years after the route was opened. The Darbang-Phulbari section of the road, whose route was opened in 2066 BS, has been upgraded ahead of schedule in the current fiscal year 2082-83 BS by Malika Rural Municipality. Since the route was opened, this road has been operating with only minor repairs. The project, for which the rural municipality allocated a budget of Rs 1 crore under the provincial supplementary title in the current fiscal year, was contracted by Mangala Construction Babiyachaur for Rs 65,23,432 on Magh 26. The project, which had a contract deadline of Asar 15, was completed 15 days ahead of schedule, said construction company representative Chakralal Pandey. He said that the company has fulfilled its responsibilities on time despite the increase in fuel and construction material prices. The road, which was 3.5 to 4 meters wide, has been widened to at least 6 meters. After widening, drains, grades, turns were adjusted for about 500 meters, and gabion, plum walls and a culvert were constructed at one place, said Deepak Sapkota, head of the infrastructure branch of the rural municipality. "Through this project, it was agreed to cut 11,000 cubic meters of walls, construct 445 cubic meters of gabion mesh walls, 254 cubic meters of drains, 250 cubic meters of concrete, and 27 cubic meters of plum walls," he said, adding, "It is in the stage of measurement and evaluation by the technical team." In the previous year, the section from Thapachaur to the turn going to Devidatta was upgraded. This road is used by residents of wards 4, 2, and 3 of Malika Rural Municipality as well as Tamankhola Rural Municipality of Baglung. This is the priority project of Malika Rural Municipality for the current fiscal year, said Anup Gauchan, spokesperson of the village executive.
