Jhapa Police Arrest 92 for Drug Offenses

Jhapa. The District Police Office, Jhapa has taken 92 drug users and dealers under control from various places in the district. A special team deployed from the District Police Office, Narcotics Control Bureau Branch Office Kakarbhitta, and subordinate offices took them under control by conducting a 'sweep operation' on Monday and Tuesday.

During the operation conducted at various suspicious locations in the district, 83 drug users, including 79 males and four females, and nine dealers were taken under control, the District Police Office, Jhapa informed. According to the police, 38 grams 910 milligrams of sticky substance resembling brown heroin, excluding plastic, and three grams 900 milligrams of marijuana were recovered from the arrested individuals.

According to Ranjan Awa, Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Jhapa, the main dealers found with drugs include 27-year-old Bikash Bhujel residing in Damak Municipality-3 and 30-year-old Sarita Rajwanshi residing in Bhadrapur Municipality-7. Six grams 90 milligrams of brown heroin were recovered from them. Similarly, 1 gram 420 milligrams were recovered from 18-year-old Devendra BK residing in Birtamod Municipality-6, and 300 milligrams of brown heroin were recovered from 39-year-old Ganesh Prasad Oli, who resides in Ward No. 4 but is originally from Birtamod Municipality-3.

Likewise, 26-year-old Charles Limbu residing in Birtamod Municipality-4 and 30-year-old Umesh Rajwanshi residing in Ward No. 3 were arrested with three grams 900 milligrams of banned marijuana. Police informed that 20 grams 410 milligrams of brown heroin were recovered after searching the room of Suraj Dhakal, also known as 'Alex', residing in Chandragadhi, Shivsataxi Municipality-7.

Ten grams 770 milligrams of sticky substance resembling brown heroin were recovered from 24-year-old Sony Khatri residing in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-14, Chitwan, and 60-year-old Sita Rajwanshi residing in Kakarbhitta, Mechinagar Municipality-6.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Awa, further investigation is underway with the nine individuals taken under control in custody. Those drug users taken under control are also being provided with necessary counseling services and handed over to their guardians, and in some cases, being sent to rehabilitation centers.
