CPN-UML Leader Pokharel Vows Unwavering Stance on Sovereignty and Good Governance Ahead of Elections

Kathmandu. CPN-UML leader and House of Representatives candidate for Kathmandu Constituency No. 5, Ishwar Pokharel, stated that his party will stand unyieldingly for independence, self-respect, nationalism, and good governance. Speaking at a 'Press Conference with Candidates' organized by Press Chautari Nepal on Wednesday, Pokharel clarified that these issues will be prioritized in UML's upcoming election manifesto.

He expressed UML's firm commitment not to compromise on issues of nationalism and development. Pointing out the need to correct certain shortcomings observed in the current political system, Pokharel mentioned that UML is prepared to amend the form of governance, electoral system, and service delivery through constitutional amendment.

Admitting that the public has not received the expected returns due to certain constitutional and practical complexities, he stated that the party will take special initiatives for reforms in those areas. His argument was that UML would play a leading role in making the constitution dynamic according to the needs of the people and the changing environment.

Pokharel claimed that UML's manifesto for this election will be different and result-oriented compared to previous years. He informed that the development agendas put forth by the party would not be limited to mere slogans but would be presented with a framework for implementation along with a specific timeline. Expressing confidence that UML will achieve better results than anticipated in the upcoming elections, he conveyed belief in winning the people's hearts to secure the results in their favor.

During his address, Pokharel also alleged that a multi-pronged conspiracy is underway to weaken UML. While external forces are trying to diminish UML's strength, he emphasized the need for the party to be strong from within. He stated that regardless of any conspiracy or encirclement, UML will move forward stronger and will not allow any move by its opponents to succeed.
