Planned Murder of 22-Year-Old in Dailekh: 17-Year-Old Allegedly Masterminded Killing of Man Over Sister's Affair

Surkhet. It has been revealed that the brutal death of 22-year-old Govinda BK, found in a gruesome state in Katti Khola in Besthada, Bhagawatimai Rural Municipality-4, Dailekh, was a premeditated murder. According to the police, seven individuals, led by a 17-year-old minor, conspired to kill Govinda.

According to the investigation report submitted by the police to the government attorney's office, life imprisonment has been sought against those involved in the murder. Police stated that Govinda's body was found in the middle of Katti Khola at 6:50 AM on Bhadra 23.

"The body was found in a brutal condition, naked and face down," said Ganesh Bahadur Baral, Chief of the District Police Office, Dailekh. "There were serious injuries and bruises on the victim's head, hands, and legs." He added that while the investigation initially began under the charge of homicide, the mystery of the incident unfolded after the victim's family filed a formal complaint on Poush 29.

According to him, the main conspirator, a minor, planned the murder after discovering that the victim, Govinda, was in a romantic relationship with the minor's 25-year-old sister and that they were living and sleeping together.

The murder plot was hatched on Bhadra 20. The main conspirator gathered his friends on the public road leading to Besthada, enticing them by saying, "We must deal with Govinda who sleeps with my sister; help me."

Baral stated, "It was observed that for two days, the friends were secretly kept at the sister's house in Besthada without anyone finding out."

Around 10 PM on Bhadra 22, the main conspirator found Govinda in his sister's room. He grabbed him and took him downstairs to the ground floor, where the friends were kept.

"There, he initially struck Govinda's chest with a stone," said Police Chief Baral. "When Govinda tried to plead for help, his throat was choked, and he was repeatedly struck on the head and abdomen with an iron rod and stones."

Baral further explained that the other accused, Sagar BK, individuals with changed names Dailekh 9, Dailekh 10, and Dailekh 8, also beat Govinda with firewood and fists, resulting in his death at the scene.

After the murder, the accused employed clever tactics to make the incident look like an accident. They stripped Govinda naked, removing all his clothes. "The body was wrapped in a blanket, put in a sack, and thrown into Katti Khola, while his mobile phone was also discarded on the riverbank," Baral said.

To conceal the crime, the room where the murder took place was plastered over, and bloodstains were erased. Furthermore, new tenants were moved into that room the very next day, he added.

Following the incident, the main conspirator and his sister fled towards India in hiding. The police have filed a case of culpable homicide against the main conspirator, 19-year-old Sagar BK, the 25-year-old sister, and five other minors involved in the murder.

Police Chief Baral also revealed during the investigation that the accused had consumed drugs and alcohol during the incident and even held a drinking party afterward, celebrating their success.

The government attorney's office filed the case in the District Court, Dailekh, on Monday, seeking a sentence of life imprisonment.
