India Allocates INR 8 Billion Grant to Nepal for Fiscal Year 2026/27

Kathmandu. The Government of India has decided to provide an NPR 8 billion grant to Nepal for the fiscal year 2026/27.

In the annual budget presented in Parliament on Sunday, Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned allocating an INR 8 billion grant to Nepal, the same amount as last year.

For the current year, India had revised its estimated grant to Nepal to INR 8.30 billion. Earlier, India had announced an INR 8 billion grant but later revised it upwards to INR 8.30 billion.

The budget mentions that among neighboring countries, India provides the largest grant to Bhutan, allocating INR 22.88 billion.

This amount is higher than the allocation for the current fiscal year, during which India had allocated INR 19.50 billion.

Furthermore, India's upcoming budget mentions providing grants of INR 5.50 billion to the Maldives, INR 3 billion to Myanmar, INR 4 billion to Sri Lanka, INR 1.50 billion to Afghanistan, INR 600 million to Bangladesh, INR 2.25 billion to African nations, and INR 250 million to Mongolia.
