Lumbini Province Chief Minister Urges Vigilance to Uphold Democratic Gains on Martyrs' Day

Butwal. Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chetanarayan Acharya has stated that all stakeholders must remain vigilant and responsible to prevent the erosion of the civil liberties, federal democratic republic, and constitutional achievements gained through the sacrifices of martyrs.

In a message issued today on the occasion of Martyrs' Day, 2082, Chief Minister Acharya noted that challenges remain in the areas of constitution implementation, political stability, good governance, and economic prosperity, emphasizing that protecting democratic values and ensuring citizen rights is a shared responsibility today.

He paid heartfelt tribute to all the great martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives for civil liberty, national independence, the defense of the constitution, and the establishment of the federal democratic republic. He stated that Martyrs' Day is a historic day to remember the struggle, sacrifice, and martyrdom of the brave martyrs who laid down their lives for the benefit of the nation and the people.

Chief Minister Acharya recalled that Martyrs' Day is observed every year on Magh 16 to honor the sacrifices made by the martyrs, establishing the Nepali people as sovereign citizens and building an independent, inclusive, and just state.

Stating that the three tiers of government, political parties, civil society, and the general public are fulfilling their shared responsibility to realize the dreams envisioned by the martyrs, he said that all political, social, and constitutional achievements attained today are the result of the martyrs' struggle.

Chief Minister Acharya clarified that the Lumbini Province Government highly respects the sacrifice, dedication, and martyrdom of the great martyrs and is firmly committed to the effective implementation of the constitution, good governance, and building a prosperous province.

He expressed his belief that the true tribute to the martyrs lies in moving forward to fulfill the aspirations for lasting peace, social justice, development, and prosperity through the federal democratic republican system established by the martyrs' sacrifices.
