Seven Escaped Prisoners Recaptured in Jhapa
Seven prisoners who had escaped from various jails across the country during the Jansandesh movement have been recaptured in Jhapa. According to District Police Office information officer Pravin Shrestha, the group, comprising five men and two women, had fled from Sundhara Central Jail in Kathmandu, Jhumka Jail in Sunsari, and Kaski Jail on Bhadau 24. They have now been taken back into custody.
Details of the Recaptured Individuals
Among those recaptured are two women from Sundhara Jail: 28-year-old Ruksar Khatun and 28-year-year-old Aasra Khatun, both from Gaurdah Municipality-5. They turned themselves in at the District Police Office after the government issued a notice urging escaped prisoners to return.
From Kaski Jail, 33-year-old Dinesh Soren of Kanakai Municipality-6, who was involved in a duty evasion case, was arrested at his home. Local residents informed the police that Soren was hiding there.
Another escaped prisoner, 23-year-old Naval Kishor, was apprehended by Indian police in Kishanganj, India, after he crossed the southern border. He is reported to be an Indian national and was handed over to the Kechana Area Police Office.
Additionally, 45-year-old Balbahadur Rai of Kanakai Municipality-4, who had escaped from Jhumka Jail in Sunsari in a case involving coercion, was surrendered to the police by his own family. Two more prisoners who had escaped from Sundhara Jail have also been rearrested.
