US Diplomat Departs for Switzerland Amidst Iran Talks

Washington. Top US diplomat Steve Wittek has departed for talks in Switzerland. US media have provided this information.

He is going there after the scheduled talks between the United States and Iran were postponed. Axios, quoting US officials, stated that Wittek departed for the Alpine country on Friday.

According to CNN, efforts are underway to advance technical-level talks between the US and Iran with the aim of bringing the initial peace agreement back on the right track.

Similarly, Trump's envoy Jared Kushner is also expected to be in Switzerland for the talks. Axios, however, stated that he has already arrived there.

It has not been immediately clarified whether Wittek will meet with Iranian officials. US media have reported that Vice President JD Vance's visit to Switzerland, which was previously scheduled, was also postponed later.

The US-Iran talks scheduled for Friday were intended to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and move towards a long-term solution. However, a new date for the talks has not yet been announced.

The war began after the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israeli attack on February 28.
