NRNA Under Mahesh Shrestha Leadership Urges Respect for Court Mandate

The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) International Coordination Council, led by Mahesh Shrestha, has expressed serious concern over information that the rival faction led by Badri KC is planning to hold a general assembly in October. The council has issued a statement urging all parties to respect the Supreme Court's order.

Legitimate Committee Recognized by Government

In a press release issued by Spokesperson Gangadhar Gautam, the NRNA states that a unity convention held on May 3-4, 2025, in Kathmandu, organized by a high-level committee formed as per the Supreme Court's mandate, already elected a new working committee under the leadership of Mahesh Shrestha. The press release highlights that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially recognized only this working committee.

No Provision for Parallel Leadership

The statement further clarifies that the NRNA's statute does not allow for any parallel organization or leadership. It also points out that six cases related to the NRNA are currently sub-judice in the Supreme Court. Given this situation, the NRNA asserts that there is no justification for the election committee formed by the KC faction or their call for delegate selection.

Call to Withhold Membership Fees and Ongoing Dispute

The press release urges all National Coordination Councils (NCCs) to respect the court's order and to refrain from sending membership fees to KC's committee. The KC faction has also been claiming that they are the legitimate body and have been conducting activities accordingly. A long-standing dispute continues within the NRNA.
