Kathmandu Metropolitan City Honors MMA Champion Rabindra Dhami and Kho Kho World Cup Runner-Up Team

Kathmandu Metropolitan City honored Nepali MMA fighter Rabindra Dhami, champion of Matrix Fight Night 17 (MFN 17), and the Nepal Kho Kho Association, runners-up in the *1st Kho Kho World Cup 2025*, with cash prizes and certificates. Both recipients were awarded NPR 1.1 million each during a ceremony held on Tuesday.

Rabindra Dhami's Historic Victory
Rabindra Dhami, hailing from Bajhang, became the first Nepali fighter to win the Bantamweight Championship title at MFN 17 in Noida, India. He defeated India’s Chongreng Koren in the third round, marking a significant milestone for Nepal in mixed martial arts.

Nepal Kho Kho Team’s World Cup Achievement
The Nepal Kho Kho team made history by reaching the finals of the Kho Kho World Cup 2025 in New Delhi, where they competed against host nation India. Although the men’s team lost 54–36 and the women’s team 78–40, securing the runner-up position marked Nepal’s first-ever appearance in a team sport World Cup final.

The award ceremony was attended by Kathmandu’s Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chief Administrative Officer, Spokesperson, and the head of the Social Development Committee. The recognition was granted based on recommendations from the Social Development Committee, highlighting the city’s support for sports achievements.

This celebration underscores Nepal’s growing presence in international sports, with both Rabindra Dhami and the Kho Kho team bringing pride to the nation.
