Changu Narayan Temple Attracts Foreign Tourists, Generates Rs. 1.19 Crore Annually
Bhaktapur – The Changu Narayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, welcomed 31,225 foreign tourists over the past year, contributing significantly to local revenue. According to Savita Basnet, head of the Changu Narayan Tourist Information Center, the temple earned Rs. 1.19 crore from foreign visitors alone.

SAARC Nations (Including India): 5,756 tourists, generating Rs. 17.26 lakh in entry fees (Rs. 300 per person).

European Countries: 25,459 tourists, contributing Rs. 1.01 crore (Rs. 400 per person).
Revenue Utilization for Development
Jeevan Khatri, Mayor of Changu Narayan Municipality, stated that the collected funds are being used for the preservation and development of historical, religious, and archaeological sites within the municipality. This includes infrastructure improvements and tourism promotion to enhance visitor experiences.
The temple remains a key attraction, blending spiritual significance with cultural heritage, while boosting Nepal’s tourism economy.
