16 Family Members Go Missing After Receiving Government Allowance

Entire Family Disappears in Sindhuli

A family of 16 members from Golanjor Rural Municipality-6 in Sindhuli has gone missing since last Friday. According to Sindhuli Police Superintendent Laladhwaj Subedi, the missing individuals belong to the Hayu community, an endangered ethnic group in Nepal.

Disappearance Follows Allowance Distribution

The family had just received a three-month government allowance (Rs. 4,000 per person) on Shrawan 8 (Thursday) as part of a welfare program for marginalized communities. Shortly after collecting the funds, all 16 members—including Urmila Hayu, her six sons, and six daughters—lost contact with relatives.

Police Launch Search Operation

SP Subedi confirmed that police are actively searching for the missing family. "The area has seen some disaster-related incidents recently, and we are investigating all possibilities," he said. Authorities suspect the family may have faced unforeseen dangers but have not ruled out other scenarios.

Concerns Grow for Endangered Community

The Hayu community, recognized as at-risk by the government, receives special allowances for survival. This sudden disappearance has raised alarms about their safety and living conditions.
