Trump Comments 'I am the owner' at G7 Summit; Leaders Pledge Support for Ukraine

Paris. US President Donald Trump has commented to world leaders, saying 'I am the owner'. He made the comment during the G-7 nations' summit. 

Trump's comment at the summit held in the French tourist town of Evian-les-Bains from June 15 to 17 has been seen as a slightly sarcastic expression.  

The joint statement issued after the summit could strengthen Ukraine's position in potential peace talks. Leaders participating in the summit acknowledged the improved situation in Ukraine's war zone and pledged to continue supporting it and impose further sanctions on Russia. 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his aides have sought to convey to Trump at the summit that Ukraine's counter-offensive is effective and that Russia is not in a position to dictate the terms of a peace agreement.  

Trump, who has appeared skeptical of Ukraine for years, has recently shown signs of becoming somewhat positive towards Zelenskyy's arguments. At a press conference, Trump claimed that Russia was losing more soldiers than Ukraine in the war and called Russia the aggressor.  

French President Emmanuel Macron said Trump's remarks were a sign of a real change in the US approach to the Ukraine war. Other European leaders have also given similar reactions. 

Last year's G-7 summit in Canada ended without any joint stance on Ukraine. But this time, leaders have expressed unified support for Ukraine. 

However, diplomatic analysts say that efforts to bring Russia to the negotiating table still depend on Trump's commitment and that uncertainty remains.  

G-7 leaders have also welcomed the preliminary peace agreement between the US and Iran. They have stated their readiness to cooperate in the implementation of the agreement. 

However, Trump has not made any clear commitment at the summit regarding the role of the G-7 nations in this process. Furthermore, European allies appear concerned about the inexperience of the US negotiating team.
