Heavy Rainfall in Terai Regions Amidst Rising Temperatures

Kathmandu. While heavy rainfall continues in various parts of the country, temperatures have also risen sharply in the Terai regions. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall occurred in Gorkha, Morang, Sunsari, and Jhapa in the last 24 hours.

Gorkha recorded 71.8, Morang 61.8, Sunsari 51.4, and Jhapa 71.2 millimeters of rainfall. Earlier, over 103 millimeters of rainfall was measured in Jhapa yesterday.

While heavy rainfall occurred in these districts, temperatures are rising in other parts of the country, informed Dinkar Kayastha, information officer of the department.

According to the department, in the latest records, Bhairahawa recorded a temperature of 41.5 degrees Celsius. Similarly, Nepalgunj recorded a temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius. Dhangadhi recorded a temperature of 38.8 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures have also increased in other districts. Even in Kathmandu, the temperature has risen to 31.3 degrees Celsius.

According to Kayastha, information officer of the Department of Meteorology, there is a possibility of hot days in Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Ghorahi, Bhairahawa, and Simara today.

Currently, there is a partial influence of the western low-pressure trough in the upper atmosphere, local winds, and easterly winds in Nepal.

According to the weather bulletin issued by the department today, the hilly and mountainous regions of the country will generally be cloudy, and there will be partial clouds in the Terai regions of Koshi and Madhesh provinces.

The weather will be mostly clear in the Terai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms in some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

There is also a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in one or two places in the Terai regions of Koshi and Madhesh provinces.

There is also a possibility of hot days in some places in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, and in a few places in the Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
