YCWL Stages Protest at Agricultural Materials Company Office

Kathmandu; The Young Communist League (YCWL), affiliated with the CPN Maoist Center, staged a protest and submitted a memorandum to the Agricultural Materials Company Limited on Sunday. The demonstration, held at the company’s office in Kuleshwar, targeted Managing Director Vishnu Prasad Pokharel, demanding answers over the shortage and biased distribution of chemical fertilizers for farmers.

Key Demands of the Protest

  • The YCWL accused the company of favoritism in fertilizer distribution, creating an artificial crisis.

  • They warned that the shortage could severely damage agricultural production in Nepal, an agro-based economy.

  • The protest was part of YCWL’s nationwide campaign, "YCWL for Labor and Production."

YCWL’s Statement

Pushpa Oli, YCWL Chairperson, stated:
"Chemical fertilizers are essential for farmers, yet there is an extreme shortage and unfair distribution. We submitted a memorandum and staged nationwide protests against this mismanagement, which harms Nepal’s agricultural output."

Next Steps

The YCWL has warned of further agitation if the government and company fail to ensure transparent and adequate fertilizer supply.
