Cameroon Presidential Election: Opposition Leader Removed from Candidate List
In Cameroon’s upcoming presidential election, the list of approved candidates includes the 92-year-old incumbent President Paul Biya, who is running for an eighth term. However, Kamto, a 71-year-old opposition leader, has been excluded from the list without any explanation from the electoral commission.
Despite growing calls for Biya’s resignation in recent times, the long-serving leader claims he still has "much more to give" to the people of Cameroon. Biya has been in power for 43 years, maintaining a firm grip on the presidency.
The removal of Kamto, a key opposition figure, has raised concerns about the fairness of the electoral process. The commission has not provided any justification for his disqualification.
