Eight Nepalis deported from U.S. handed over to Nepal Police

Kathmandu, March 5 — Eight Nepalis deported from the United States have been handed over to Nepal Police by the Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport.

The individuals were brought to Nepal on a U.S. flight early Wednesday morning.

The Immigration Office chief, Tirtharaj Bhattarai, confirmed to Ratopati that the eight deportees had been handed over to Nepal Police.

"We completed their immigration process and handed them over to the Nepal Police as they had requested," Bhattrai said. "They were handed over as per the police's request for further investigation."

The deportees were placed in a vehicle and taken to the Anti Human Trafficking Bureau.

The police are expected to conduct necessary questioning before releasing them.

Authorities believe that investigating the deportees may reveal connections to human trafficking networks.
