12 detained in Baneshwor after protest turns violent

Kathmandu, March 2 — Twelve individuals have been arrested from Baneshwor in the capital.

According to the Kathmandu District Police Range , the arrests include five women and seven men.

On Sunday morning, a clash occurred during a protest organized by the 'Swargadwari Guthi Victims Tenancy Struggle Committee', in which DSP Ganga Poudel of the Singhadurbar Police Circle was injured.

DSP Poudel is being treated at Civil Hospital.

According to an official from the Kathmandu District Police Range, some protesters were also injured.

The protest committee has been organizing demonstrations in Kathmandu for some time.

The clash took place in front of the Bakery Cafe in Baneshwor when the protestors attempted to break into a restricted area.
