Kathmandu ranked second most polluted city in the world

Kathmandu, February 13 — Kathmandu has been placed as the second most polluted city in the world, with Karachi, Pakistan, topping the list as the most polluted city, as of February 13.

According to IQAir, the air quality index (AQI) in Kathmandu reached 183 on Thursday, indicating a high level of air pollution that is considered unhealthy.

An AQI above 50 is considered unhealthy, public health experts have issued warnings.

People, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions, are advised to take precautions. 

The high levels of pollution can have significant negative impacts on public health, causing respiratory problems and other health issues for the general population.

Authorities are urging citizens to limit outdoor activities and wear protective gear to reduce exposure to harmful pollutants in the air.
