Home Minister directs investigation into police assault incidents

Kathmandu, February 12 — Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed that any individual responsible for recent incidents of police assault and mistreatment be investigated and held accountable.

The minister issued the directive during a meeting with senior police officials, including Police Chief Basanta Kunwar, at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday morning.

Minister Lekhak expressed serious concern over the growing incidents of police abuse while maintaining peace and security, urging immediate investigation and action against the culprits.

He emphasized that recent reports of abuse and assault against security personnel in various parts of the country have raised awareness and highlighted the need for the police to remain active in ensuring peace and security.

"Whoever is involved in these incidents, legal action will be taken," Minister Lekhak stated, adding that those attempting to disrupt societal peace or harm officers assigned to maintain security will be brought to justice.
