5 injured in jeep-truck collision in Rautahat

Rautahat, February 11 — Five people, including the driver of a jeep, were seriously injured in a collision between a jeep and a cargo truck this morning at Chandrapur Municipality, located along the East-West Highway in Rautahat.

At around 8:20 AM today, a jeep (registration number Na 4 Cha 3694) traveling towards Sarlahi from Chandranigahapur, collided head-on with a truck (registration number Ba Pra 01-006 Kha 5729) coming from the opposite direction.

As a result of the collision, Sudip Kumar Yadav, 20, from Maulapur Municipality-3, sustained head, face, and forehead injuries. Prashant Thakur, 18, from Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality-5, was injured on his left hand, right eye, and eyebrow. 

The driver, Rambinaya Mahato, 21, from Baudhimai Municipality-3, suffered injuries to his right hand and forehead. Inspector Bishal Tamang from the Chandranigahpur Area Police Office stated that his condition is moderate.

Similarly, Pradeep Kushwaha, 18, from Baudhimai-2, sustained injuries to his forehead, head, and ear, with a moderate condition. Santosh Kushwaha, 28, from Simraungadh Municipality-7, was seriously injured on his head and chin.

The injured individuals have been sent to Chandrapur Hospital for treatment. Dr. Subhash Chaudhary, the hospital's chief, reported that Kushwaha’s condition is critical, while the others are receiving treatment for minor injuries.

The truck and its driver, 28-year-old Furi Tamang from Dolakha Jiri Municipality-4, along with the Scorpio, are under the control of the Chandranigahpur Area Police. Inspector Tamang informed that the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

For safety and security at the accident site, a team led by Sub-Inspector Mahananda Kumar Yadav has been deployed.
