In pictures: FNJ election underway at Nepal Academy

Kathmandu, December 13 — The 27th General Assembly of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has officially begun today in Kathmandu.

Voting for new leadership at the central committee, 10 provincial committees, 77 district branches, and 41 institutional branches started at 10 AM this morning.

For the upcoming president, candidates Devi Prasad Sapkota, Nirmala Sharma, Ramesh Bista, and Lalsingh Lama are contesting. For the senior vice president position, Govind Prasad Chaulagain, Deepak Acharya, and Roshan Puri are in the race.

For the female vice president positions, Nitu Pandit and Ganga Poudel have filed their nominations, while for the inclusive vice president, candidates Umid Prasad Bagchand, Mohan Kumar Singh, and Subash Prasad Sah are competing.

For the general secretary, the candidates are Ram Prasad Dahal, Janamdev Jaishi, Prakash Thapa and Lekhnath Neupane.

In the ongoing voting at Nepal Academy, supporters of the candidates are energetically backing their preferred contenders. This general assembly is being considered crucial for the future of journalism in Nepal as it decides the new leadership.
