Nepal, China sign BRI Cooperation Framework

Kathmandu, December 4 — Nepal and China have signed an agreement under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework.

During high-level talks between Nepal and China on Tuesday, the framework under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was not signed. However, it was signed today (Wednesday).

On Tuesday, a 9-point agreement and a memorandum of understanding were signed between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of Nepal and Chinese Premier Li Qiang following bilateral talks.

The BRI was not mentioned in these documents. However, the joint 12-point statement issued by Nepal and China highlighted the intention to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as soon as possible to establish the framework for Belt and Road cooperation.
